1What Are Cookies & Web Storage?
Cookies and local storage mechanisms (such as localStorage and IndexedDB) are standard browser technologies that allow web applications to remember your login status, language preference, and cached exam materials directly on your device.
2How MyKCET Uses Web Storage & Cookies
MyKCET strictly uses storage mechanisms for functional and operational needs:
A. Authentication & Session Cookies (Essential)
Used to store your authenticated session token after signing in with Google OAuth. This prevents unauthorized session hijacking and enforces the one-active-device policy.
B. Language Preference Storage (mk-lang)
Stores your chosen interface language preference (en for English or kn for ಕನ್ನಡ) in browser localStorage so your preference persists across sessions.
C. Client-Side Question Caching (IndexedDB / Dexie.js)
Stores PCMB questions and diagrams directly on your device disk so test timers and bubbling actions remain 100% operational even if your mobile internet drops during an active test.
3. Zero Third-Party Advertising Trackers
We do not serve third-party advertising cookies, behavioral tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking scripts. We do not sell ad inventory on our student portal.
4Managing and Clearing Cookies
You can manage or clear cookies and website storage at any time through your browser settings. Note that clearing local storage will reset your language preferences and log you out of active exam sessions.
